My Story
It all started in Weert, the town where I was born. On August 19, 2002, Ruben entered the world. Though I don't have much of a connection to Weert itself. It just happened to have a hospital, which made my arrival possible.
I spent the first 15 years of my life living in a terraced house in the small town of Helden. After that, we moved to a detached house in Panningen (a village right next to Helden), where I still live with my parents and two brothers.
Work
My work experience in my field is still growing, but I've already completed several internships that have given me valuable insights. You can find more details about these on my CV page.
My very first job was at Het Zomerkoninkje, where I worked in a greenhouse picking strawberries and trimming branches. After that, I started working at Jumbo as a produce assistant, which I still do to this day. Over time, I’ve taken on more responsibility there, including working as a store closer. A role that comes with greater trust and accountability.
Personal
In my free time, I enjoy trying out new things. I’ve been going to the gym for quite a while to build muscle, but that’s no longer my main goal. These days, I’m more interested in learning how to box and maintaining my overall fitness. To me, that feels more functional than just having a well-built body.
I also like to spend time DJing whenever I get the chance, something that started when a good friend of mine got into it. And I decided to give it a shot too. On top of that, I’m currently exploring the idea of starting a small business to earn some extra income, and who knows, maybe even turn it into a full-time thing in the future.
On weekends, I tend to take things a bit slower. I usually work at Jumbo, go for a walk with my girlfriend’s dog, grab a drink with friends, catch a movie, or just chill on the couch recovering from the night before 😉.
